Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Ustadha Wendy Díaz is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hablamos Islam. She holds a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from Chicago Theological Seminary in partnership with Bayan Islamic Graduate School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Linguistics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where she graduated with distinction.

A leading voice in the field of Latino Muslim identity and heritage, Ustadha Wendy is recognized as a prominent researcher and authority on the Latino Muslim experience in the United States and the Caribbean. Her pioneering work has contributed to numerous academic studies and peer-reviewed publications, and she has presented her research at conferences and universities along the East Coast.

With over 15 years of experience, Wendy is an educator, published author, journalist, award-winning poet, creative writer, translator, and editor. In 2012, she was selected as a New America Media Fellow, and her widely circulated article, “Latina Immigrants: The New Ambassadors of Islam,” received national attention across various media platforms.

Her written contributions have appeared in respected outlets such as Islamic Horizons, The Message International, The Muslim Link, MuslimMatters, Sound Vision, and MomsRising.

In addition to her formal academic background, Ustadha Wendy has pursued supplementary studies in Arabic and Islamic sciences in Cairo, Egypt, as well as through institutions such as the Islamic Learning Foundation, AlMaghrib Institute, Mishkah University, and Toobah University.
